Preparing 21st century students for a global society
4C's: communication, collaboration, creativity and critical thinking

The “Four C’s” are by far the most popular 21st Century skills. These skills are also called learning skills. They let students create a whole that’s greater than the sum of its parts. It’s most accurate to say that students need the “Four C’s” for any and every reason. Critical thinking teaches students to question claims and seek truth. Creativity teaches students to think in a way that’s unique to them. Collaboration teaches students that groups can create something bigger and better than you can on your own. Communication teaches students how to efficiently convey ideas. Combined, the “Four C’s” empower students to become one-person think tanks. Then, when those students get together, they can achieve almost anything! As educators, we are determined to help all students reach their full potential. This is no small challenge, and it is our responsibility to prepare our young people for the unique demands of a 21st century world.
In a true learn-by-doing environment, course participants will gain greater knowledge about what these competences entail and not only how to teach them, but first and foremost how to tap into their own ability to create, to think critically, to communicate effectively and to collaborate well with others.

  • Acquire basic knowledge about communication that will enable them to use both more effective and conscious communication in order to have a better influence;
  • Gain practical application of the theories and techniques in order to development of their teaching, facilitating student learning, collaboration and problem solving;
  • Be able to use different methods of implementing creative solutions in their professional life, discovering at the same time their own creative resources;
  • Create effectively conditions and support for creative and critical thinking among their students.
By the end of the course participants will have a substantial knowledge, the know-how and the confidence to incorporate these skills into their classrooms and school environment.

The course is designed as an interactive process with emphasis on establishing a mentor relationship between participants and trainer. It follows two-way communication process including discussions, interactive games, working in groups and pairs, presentations, case studies, thinking techniques and individual activities. The focus is on experiential learning and workshop approach. The participants will also receive a workbook with session’s summaries and descriptions of activities used.
